Tirana
The core members of the team in Tirana are Elton Skendaj, the coordinator, and Gerti Veshaj, the project assistant. We make use of subcontractors in Tirana about our trainings as well. The trainers for teachers came from the NGO and academic sector. They came from the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Tirana, Institute for Pedagogical Studies, Foundation for Conflict Resolution and Reconciliation, Women’s Center trainers.
Gramsh
12 teachers have been consistently trained in our project and are very helpful with the artistic and other activities in the schools. The pupils we work closely with belong to three main groups: a) student government, b) debate club, and c) newspaper team. We believe that through diversifying the team, and working with the teachers and pupils closely, we are going to achieve better results in opening up the school to the peace education project.
We are also closely cooperating with the Children’s Center—we bought the best sound system for them—and the Cultural Center/Public Library—we invested in a synthesizer and an open library as well. The two women in charge of these institutions are Leme Kishta and Leidi Shqiponja. We are glad to have as a local coordinator in Gramsh Mrs. Luljeta Dollani, the former mayor. She accepted our offer and has been our coordinator since May 15th.
Shkodra
The local coordinator of the project is Kole Shiroka, the principal of the “Jordan Misja” school. 12 teachers have been consistently trained in our project and are very helpful with the artistic and other activities in the schools.

Strategic Partnerships
The Institute for Pedagogical Studies, the national institute for curricula and training under the Ministry of Education, has included our project’s peace education manual in its resource list for cross-curricular civic education programs for high schools in Albania. The directorate of education in Tirana—whose director, Majlinda Keta, was one of the contributor to our peace education project, has also requested that our manuals be used in training the newly hired teachers in the schools of Tirana. |
