Evaluation of CPDE Activities
The main activities of the CPDE as part of the project in Gramsh and Shkoder are the following:
Training trainers and teachers from the selected schools in peace and disarmament education methods and the subjects of debate, communication skills, conflict resolution skills, and leadership skills.
Publishing international and national manuals on peace and disarmament education in Albanian.

The Albanian Center for Peace and Disarmament Education (ACPDE) was initially created to coordinate the Hague Appeal for Peace / UN peace and disarmament project in Albania. Project description
The Peace and Disarmament Education Project (hereby called PDEP) commisioned the survey in order to evaluate the existing situation on its project priority issues. Such evaluation was carried out through a questionnaire survey on target groups.

The core members of the team in Tirana are Elton Skendaj, the coordinator, and Gerti Veshaj, the project assistant. We make use of subcontractors in Tirana about our trainings as well. The trainers for teachers came from the NGO and academic sector. They came from the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Tirana, Institute for Pedagogical Studies, Foundation for Conflict Resolution and CPDE Email Directory

The national coordinator gave a speech at the 56th UN DPI / NGO Conference, New York, September 10, 2003 on Peace and Disarmament Education in Albania. Mr. Elton Skendaj mentioned that:
Following a successful physical disarmament project conducted by the UN in cooperation with the Albanian government, the need for sustainable disarmament strategies arose as the social fabric had been punctured b Peace Education Books
Elton Skendaj, Gerti Veshaj and Genci Kojdheli translated all the three Hague Appeal for Peace books on "Learning to Abolish War" and then published them together in a nicely packaged book. The translation can be found in the Hague Appeal for Peace webpage and on our site.
Also, our first international teacher training with Alicia Cabezudo and Meg Gardinier from the HAP Global Campaign for Sports activities
Through diverse sports activities, nearly all the pupils in both schools have been involved in the project. The Sports for Peace activities involved around 1600 pupils in both "Shefqet Guzi" school in Gramsh and "Jordan Misja" school in Shkodra. Other investments in infrastructure
In June 2003 the project donated 11 brand new computers, printers and many educational CD-ROMs for the school lab in Gramsh, the public library in Gramsh and for the coordinator in Shkodra. This investment will considerably improve their infrastructure for the project.
Then we organized two summer schools. The first one had as participants 25 pupils who are members of the debate, student governm Debate-related results
Activities and Accomplishments
The activities provided by the project “Debate on peace education and disarmament” were:
Creating and Publishing the research packet;
Conduction of 2 trainings with the debate clubs of Shkodra and Gramsh on the project’s issues;
Organization of 2 local Policy Debate Tournaments with the resolution: The government should draw stronger policies on small weapo Activities of the Albanian CPDE Project

Identification of the managing group in Shkodra
Exchange of experience between Gramsh and Shkodra.
Training for trainers and teachers in peace and disarmament education methods and substance from the selected schools in the district: Debate, communication skills, conflict resolution skills, and leadership skills.
