Other investments in infrastructure

In June 2003 the project donated 11 brand new computers, printers and many educational CD-ROMs for the school lab in Gramsh, the public library in Gramsh and for the coordinator in Shkodra. This investment will considerably improve their infrastructure for the project.

Then we organized two summer schools. The first one had as participants 25 pupils who are members of the debate, student government and newspaper groups in Gramsh and Shkodra. The summer school "Toward a Culture of Peace" occurred at 21st-26th of July. The workshops were on civic participation in school and community, and used methods of Theatre of the Oppressed.

Two of the leading students from our project summer school went on to participate in a Balkan-wide summer school - the "Youth Leadership Institute" through a US-based Balkan Youth Link organization. The inter-cultural and inter-ethnic experiences enriched the student leaders with ideas and activities that they bring back to the school community. They also built lasting friendships with other students from the region.

The second summer school on "Conflict Resolution and Transformation" involved 22 teachers from Gramsh and Shkodra and occurred in September 2-7 in Gramsh. The project collaborated with trainers from the Foundation of Conflict Resolution for that.
