Peace Education Books
|
Elton Skendaj, Gerti Veshaj and Genci Kojdheli translated all the three Hague Appeal for Peace books on "Learning to Abolish War" and then published them together in a nicely packaged book. The translation can be found in the Hague Appeal for Peace webpage and on our site.
Also, our first international teacher training with Alicia Cabezudo and Meg Gardinier from the HAP Global Campaign for Peace Education was conducted using primarily the translated HAP books as resources. The Ministry of Education of Albania chose that reported activity to represent it to the Council of Europe as an initiative in Global Education. It can be found online here. Following that, we started conducting local training in both schools with all constituencies. First, the teachers have been through training in the following fields: Tolerance education, Human Rights Education, and to a lesser degree in Disarmament Education, and Conflict Resolution. The component of Conflict Resolution will be filled by a summer school in Conflict Resolution and Transformation. The component of Disarmament education has been addressed with student debates attended by all the teachers. More has to be done in all of these areas. |
