Peace and Disarmament Education enters national curricula

Our project has entered into a partnership with the Institute for Pedagogical Studies. The Institute of Pedagogical Studies (ISP), with the approval by the Ministry of Education and Science, has taken the initiative to prepare a teacher’s guide for the cross and extracurricular activities in school. This guide will serve the teachers of all levels in the pre-university education. ISP asked for contributions from various programs in the country including our Peace Education Project.

The aim for the preparation of such a guide is to assist teachers in running classes about the cross and extracurricular activities according to the new curriculum for the pre-university education. In the same way, this guide aims to upgrade teaching in various levels of our pre-university education, through the integration of these activities in the educational process.

The objectives of this initiative fully satisfy the actual and future needs of the educational system in Albania. In the framework for the reformation and development of a curriculum that meets the global needs of our citizen, there are two classes in the new teaching plan at the disposal of cross and extracurricular activities.

Our project agreed to assist professionally and financially. Around 10 pages in this guide will be devoted to peace and disarmament education programming. Our online resources will be cited there as well. Since ISP is the institute for national curricula in Albania, the relationship that we have fostered in the past year, is giving fruits through such strategic partnerships.
