Main CPDE Activities


Shkodra activities
  • Identification of the managing group in Shkodra
  • Exchange of experience between Gramsh and Shkodra.
  • Training for trainers and teachers in peace and disarmament education methods and substance from the selected schools in the district: Debate, communication skills, conflict resolution skills, and leadership skills.
  • Organizing debates and public discussions for tolerance, peace, disarmament, conflict resolution, human rights, covered by mass-media in Shkodra.
  • Facilitation and support for educative and recreational activities such as contests in the fields of philosophy, literature, art, and social studies at the main school and outside of it that will promote tolerance, peace, disarmament, conflict resolution, human rights.
  • Gender sensitivity workshops and activities, particularly as they relate to the use of weapons and the reduction of conflict.
  • Facilitating disarmament-related projects organized by the youth parliament Shkodra.
  • Working with student governments and other school organizations on peace and disarmament issues.
  • Organizing joint activities amongst different schools on: tolerance, peace, disarmament, conflict resolution, and human rights.
Gramsh Activities
  • Secondary school democracy, peace and disarmament education project-
    1. Train teachers in peace and disarmament education and its integration into specific academic subjects.
    2. Assist creation of school newspaper with focus on stories of arms collection, alternatives to violent responses, creative student initiatives and relationship building.
    3. Support collaboration of urban and rural students in the school to reclaim space lost to conflict for a multipurpose sports field accessible to everyone.
    4. Support a computer lab and internet connection for secondary schools in the district for sharing of insights and lessons learned about peace and disarmament education. (Use existing link called "School Connectivity Project" of CRS.)
    5. Support to students for a participatory student governance system, creation of student-run peer mediation and conflict resolution studies.
  • Support links to public library on peace and disarmament education.
  • Cultural/Arts Center- Promote peace, disarmament and tolerance through the arts by supporting appropriate project in the Palace of Culture and the Children's Cultural Center.
Anticipated Results for all
  • Training for trainers workshops for 10 teachers and 2-3 coordinators that will in turn train pupils and the community in peace education.
  • Cooperation between two districts and identification of best practices.
  • More tolerance and understanding, less violent behaviour, evidenced in the schools.
  • Development of training modules and guidelines for peace and disarmament education on a national basis.
  • Translation and / or adaptation of HAP teaching materials on peace and disarmament education
